Woman Wakes Up To Find That Theives Had Stolen Her Front Garden
A Scottish mum has been left baffled after thieves stole her entire front garden.
Sue Scorer, of Livingston, West Lothian, woke up on Sunday to find that the artificial turf that lay in front of her home had been pinched during the night. Despite the lack of grass, the trampoline and toys that had been left in the garden were still there.
"I woke up on Sunday morning and was washing my hands when I looked out my window and saw that the trampoline was on the other side of the garden," said the mother-of-two.
"I opened the window to see what was going on and saw all the grass was gone and the fence was down. I thought I was dreaming. I was in shock, I couldn't believe it. I called the police straight away to report what had happened."
Sue had been living in the house for six years and had had the artificial turf put down four years ago at the cost of £3,000.
"The kids' toys had been moved around the garden," she said. "One of the toys was over in the neighbours' because they must have had to move them all to get the grass up. It had to be planned. There was no way someone was just strolling past and decided to take it.
"It was put down four years ago - we had the front and the back garden done, which cost around £3,000. I was so shocked because it's been down for four years, it's not like it was freshly laid.
"There are marks on it from where the trampoline was and the kids have been playing. It is scary to think people were in my garden while I was asleep inside. Thankfully the boys weren't here on Saturday night.

"The kids are really upset. My eight-year-old is always outside playing football and kids from the area are always round in the garden playing, so it's devastating."
And Sue was not the only Livingstonian to suffer a loss on Saturday night. "A neighbour is getting an extension and they had taken up their artificial grass and put it beside their fence while the work was getting done - and that had been taken too," she added.
"My neighbour caught it all on CCTV. I happened at 4.20am on Sunday morning. It looks like three young men all with their hoods up.
"Half of my grass was later found in a bush about three streets over. I think they couldn't carry all of mine, and my neighbours they stole, so dumped some of mine hoping to come back for it."
Sue put a post up on Facebook about the theft, which has gone viral and led to a local businessman reaching out to her.
"A landscaper has come forward and offered to replace all the grass and fix the fence for free," she said.
"He said he has a young son who would be devastated if it happened to their garden."
Police Scotland released a statement on the issue, which read: "Police in Livingston are investigating the theft of artificial grass from two addresses in Ladywell. The incident happened overnight between Friday 5th and Saturday 6th May at properties in Meadowbank.
"Enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward."
