Vicky Balch, the woman who lost one of her legs in a freak accident at Alton Towers, has married her fiancé in an 'emotional' ceremony just six years after being involved in the life-changing crash on the theme park's Smiler ride.

The 26-year-old wed Dino Manciocchi in a ceremony near to her home town of Preston in front of the pair's family and friends, as well as their seven-month-old son Venanzio.

The mum said that whilst she'd had her fair share of adversity thrown at her, she 'wouldn't change' anything about her life as it brought her to the place she was at this Saturday.

Her father was even able to walk her down the aisle at the ceremony.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, she said: "It will be very emotional and there will be lots of tears.

"Although I've been through a lot, I wouldn't change what happened because I probably wouldn't have Dino or Vinnie. They are my everything."

The crash at Alton Towers six years ago left 16 people injured when the carriage Vicky was in hit an empty one on the track during a malfunction.

She was sitting in the front row of the carriage and had to be rushed to hospital where doctors eventually amputated her leg.

The Staffordshire theme part was fined £5 million for the crash in June 2015, and Vicky previously confirmed that she was also given a multi-million-pound payout for the loss of her leg as a result of the accident.

Vicky and Dino were originally set to be married in Florence in September of last year, but that was obviously delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Then, they decided to switch it up and planned their nuptials at Bartle Hall Hotel near Preston.

There were 50 guests present at the ceremony, and Vicky's dad was able to give her away.

The couple also welcomed their first baby into the world earlier this year in March.

Sharing that happy news, Vicky wrote: "Finally ready to introduce the newest member of our family Venanzio Joseph Manciocchi born 12/3/2021 after an emotional rollercoaster which ended in emergency C-Section and 3 nights in Neo-natal the family is finally home and ready to enjoy many memories @dinomanciocchi."

Speaking about the pair's engagement in 2018, Vicky wrote: "Can't believe my best friend asked me to marry him on Friday.

"I had no idea he was going to propose and couldn't believe it when he asked me. I'm so happy and excited for the rest of our lives together."
