Young Couple Stunned By Giving Birth To Consecutive Sets Of Identical Twins

Two parents were stunned when they fell pregnant with twins for the second time in two years.

Jessica Phoenix and Liam McMahon, both 23, from Kent, found out they were expecting twin boys just six months into their relationship - and have now added two girls to the mix.

The first set of twins, Harry and Elijah, were only two when Jessica realised she was pregnant for a second time with Phoebe and Aria, who arrived in September.

While neither pregnancy was planned, the couple were told by specialists they were more likely to be struck by lightning than have two sets of twins.

Looking back Jessica said: "My first words were 'Oh no, not again'.

"As soon as we told people they thought we were joking; nobody would believe us."

But despite the little surprise, the mum-of-four says she wouldn't change a thing.

"It might not be what we had planned when we first met but we've got our whole family done and dusted in the space of a few years.

"Two boys, two girls, two sets of twins - it's just the perfect package. We're the perfect family to me and it feels meant to be. 'It was four unexpected babies, but now I wouldn't change it for the world."

When they became parents for the first time in February 2016, the pair admit they found it tough to cope. However, with the two latest additions to the family they seem to have finally found their feet.

"I'd only just got used to the idea of having one baby when I found out it was two," Jessica said.

"It was a bit overwhelming. I wanted boys so I was glad to find out it was boys.

"I do feel like now with the girls I appreciate them being babies more.

"With the boys I think I was just getting used to being a mum so it felt I was always trying to keep up - doing one thing then the next then the next, whether it was nappies or bottles.

"But now I know they are fine, I know what I'm doing."

Liam, who's a chef, admits it's a bit unusual to have so may kids at such a young age but he couldn't be prouder.

He added: 'To think that I'm a dad of four does feel pretty crazy. People my age are usually living at home with their mum and dad, just thinking about going out or going to uni.

"Having them has made me want to do more in my life. It makes me want to make them proud."

They must have the patience of a saint.
