A US woman has left us tea-loving Brits absolutely horrified after sharing a video of how she makes a brew. Brace yourself - you can see it here:

TikTok user @happygoliving posted a clip in which she asked her followers if they could spot the 'major flaw' with her new electric kettle.
In the clip, the woman can be heard to say: "I have this amazing electric kettle. As you can see it's filled up to the waterline, but it has a major flaw when I'm making my tea. Let me see if you can notice the major flaw that it has."

As she talks, the kettle starts to boil and she adds: "It might be hard to notice, but here it comes. Oh yeah."
At this point, boiling water starts to shoot out the spout of the kettle, which is handily placed next to a sink - and the woman says: "So, why would they make it like this? What is the purpose?
"Yeah, you better turn yourself off. Water everywhere."
However, her followers were quick to point out that 'major flaw' actually lay with the woman, who for some reason decided to boil the water with the tea infuser - and tea - inside.
One person wrote: "Please tell me you're joking? Kettles are for water."
Another pointed out: "You're meant to put the tea in after it's boiled. User error 100 percent."
While a third person told the woman: "You're not meant to boil the tea leaves."

A fourth wrote: "The Brit in me is severely confused and kind of scared. Are Americans OK?"
In a follow-up video, the woman revealed that'd she'd taken on board the advice and removed the infuser from inside the kettle, but she still didn't seem to grasp the concept of a kettle being used for boiling only.
She said: "Everybody said to boil the water without the tea thing in it. But why do they give you this tea thing?

"What is the purpose of the tea thing?"
She then gave the kettle another run, this time with just boiling water in, and - lo and behold - it worked perfectly.
Right, I'm off to make a brew to calm down.
