Woman Almost Crushed By Lorry During TV News Report On Dangerous Junction

She got off lucky, all things considered

A cyclist in Brazil narrowly avoided a motorbike and had her wheel crushed by a lorry - all captured on video by a news team reporting on the dangerous road. Watch here:

The incident took place on the BR-277 in Cascavel, in the south of the country, while network Meio Dia Parana was reporting on the fact that the dangerous junction was to be closed due to frequent crashes, according to the Metro.

Illustrating why the junction is being closed right on cue, a cyclist peddled into the road after seemingly forgetting to look both ways.

She narrowly avoided a collision with an oncoming motorbike, but the near miss caused her to lose balance.

She then swerved across into the path of a lorry and was unable to halt her bike before its front wheel was completely crushed by the vehicle.

It's Mr Bean stuff really, and I think it's OK to see the funny side of things, given that she was thankfully unharmed - and that a new front wheel is a relatively small price to pay for our collective amusement.

Things got worse from here.

In January, an elderly woman in the UK was lucky to come out unscathed from a near miss; but not you're average old near miss, a near miss with a swan.

The woman in question had been looking out of the bathroom window of a chalet building in Barton-in-Fabis, Nottinghamshire, shortly before a massive swan came crashing through it - which obviously could have been quite nasty for her if she was still gazing through it.

Thankfully, the swan survived the collision, but it had to be taken in by the RSPCA for treatment, having sustained a few injuries.

Unsurprisingly, this was the first time the animal charity had dealt with such an accident.

The swan survived.

RSPCA inspector Keith Ellis said: "The lady was so lucky when this happened as she had just been in the bathroom.

"Had she still been there when this swan crashed through the window I am sure the glass shattering and the impact of the bird hitting her would have caused serious injury, or even worse.

"I think the swan was looking and flying to the nearby River Trent and must have misjudged the direction. It was also quite windy at the time which may have blown her off course."

He continued: "I have been an RSPCA inspector for 40 years and have never seen a swan crash through a window.

"I have seen them crash-land onto busy roads thinking they are rivers - but nothing like this - it is so bizarre."
