A young boy in Scotland embarrassed his dad by writing a rude note on their bill at a restaurant.

The family visited Woodland Creatures in Leith, Edinburgh, for vegan Sunday roasts, and just before leaving, the dad went to the toilet.

Clearly, his son saw this as a window of opportunity, as staff later found the following message scrawled across their bill: "Dad's doing a jobby."

Well and truly stitched up there by the wee man.

Just in case you weren't aware, jobby means turd in Scottish slang - and clearly it is a term that enters a Scot's vocabulary from an early age.

Server Carlos told Edinburgh Live: "There was a young family in for Sunday Roasts and Kids Eat Free.

"I served them and found the surprisingly legible note from the young boy just as they were leaving.

"Daddy was in the bathroom just before they left."

Oh Daddy, what are you like?

Inevitably, a picture of the bill found its way to social media, where it prompted many a chuckle.

One person tagged a mate and wrote: "Doing this to you next time we're out."

Another added: "The only sensible action after three vegan roasts."

But while the note may have taken staff at Woodland Creatures by surprise, I doubt it dropped jaws quite like a customer's bill at the Stumble Inn Bar and Grill in Londonderry, New Hampshire, in the United States.

Back in June, the customer (who wished to remain anonymous) ordered a couple of chilli dogs, fried pickle chips and a few cocktails - before leaving a tip worth more than 400 times the cost of the bill.

The bill came to $37.93( £27), but he decided to go waaaaay beyond 10 percent when it came to tipping, leaving a $16,000 tip (£11,700) .

"I thought it was a mistake," restaurant owner Mike Zarella told NBC Boston.

Zarella thought the customer had made a mistake.

However, the customer - who wasn't a regular - confirmed it was no mistake, and said staff deserved it because they worked hard.

Barmaid Michelle McCudden said the gesture restored her faith in humanity.

She said: "He's kind of a mystery man. I've been doing this a very long time and I never thought anything like this would happen to me.

"We went up and we thanked him. It's just been a really rough year for all of us.

"For someone to do something like that really restored my faith in humanity. He just said that we work really hard and he wanted to do something nice and he just really wanted us to have it."

Paying forward the good deed, the eight servers shared the tip with the kitchen staff too.
