Monopoly is a game that's fun for the whole family... until someone reveals they've been stealing money the whole time or one player loses everything because they keep landing on Mayfair.
The original game will never be beaten and there's a good reason for that.
However, there's a newer version of the classic board game that will no doubt appeal to loads of Aussies - a Holden HSV Edition, and it's simply bloody brilliant.
Instead of locations like in the original game, the board is divided into types of Holden cars that most followers will know well.

It starts out with the 1990 VN Group A Holden and ends on 2017 GTSR W1 - a worthy substitute for Mayfair. It also features 'coupes and utes, early classics and the latest beasts'.
You can also land on spots like Upgraded Wheel Package, Supercharged LSA Gen IV Alloy Engine and Hand Built LS7 V8 Engine.
The die pieces are a VS Clubby, a gear stick, a steering wheel, a wheel, an HSV logo and a VF Maloo.

For the people who have bought the edition, it seems like it's a big favourite.
One person wrote: "Excellent board game, great quality. I would say more suitable for adults rather than a family one as it's quite confusing for kids trying to tell the cars spaces apart from each other."
To be fair, kids who aren't familiar with cars would have a very tough time working out why the hell they want to buy one spot compared to another.
Now, if you're a Ford driver who finds this game a travesty, fear not, there is also an edition that caters specifically to you.
The die pieces for this game include a 1914 Model T Touring, a 1948 F-Series, a 1955 Thunderbird, a 1964 GT 40, a 1971 Falcom XY GTHO Phase III and a 1976 Mustang Cobra II.

So if you're a diehard fan on either end of the Ford vs Holden spectrum, then at least you know that there's a game you can play over Christmas.
