Kate McClean was looking forward to her trip to the White Isle for five months but, it soon spiralled out of control

Most people would agree that Ibiza must be experienced at least once by us all. Some will fall in love with the place and go back year after year.

Kate McClean on the other hand is scared to ever return after her holiday back in May, which involved a virus that left her bed bound for the entire trip, a flight cancellation and - if that wasn't enough - she was then run over by a motorbike.

The 22-year-old from Manchester booked the five-day getaway in January, paying £170 ($210). What a bargain. She hoped for the time of her life after hearing everyone tell her how amazing it would be.

After landing on 15 May and travelling to San Antonio, the trip began quite smoothly (it would seem) as their first night - a bar crawl - was a success.

The following night Kate and her friends travelled to Playa d'en Bossa, but she was carted out by 9.30pm as she couldn't walk.

Speaking to LADbible, Kate explained: "I was being sick and couldn't stand up all through the night until 8am. I was told I had caught a serious virus so I couldn't eat or drink for three days."

This meant that for the remainder of the trip, Kate was forced to stay inside the confines of her hotel room.

Kate documented her trip on Twitter.

Kate claimed that she was in 'the worst pain I'd been in' when she contracted the virus, adding that she 'couldn't even keep a sip of water down'.

She went on: "I had to stay in the room for the rest of the holiday whilst I watched my friends get ready to go out to all the events we had already bought tickets for."

On the Sunday the group were scheduled to fly home, but for one reason or another their flight was cancelled. To make matters worse, Kate claims passengers weren't given food or water on the plane for four hours while they waited to see if it would take off.

After learning of the cancellation, she and her friends now needed to book a hotel because there were no other flights they could get on.

The flight was then cancelled.

Kate, who works in administration, continued: "We had to find a hotel close by to stay in until we could fly home. We booked one in Playa d'en Bossa, but by this point we had no money and I was starting to feel better so we decided to get some Pot Noodles from the supermarket before we went out that night.

"As I went to cross the road a motorbike hit me which sent me flying in the air. I got carried to my room by people who saw it happen and after medical attention I was told I had broken three ribs.

"I was in so much pain and had really bad whiplash. I couldn't go to hospital as my travel insurance had run out because I was supposed to be flying home that day. I then had to stay in bed until I could get home."

Kate ended up getting on a flight to Leeds on the Tuesday, meaning that she ended up having to get the train to Manchester and 'hobble' all the way home.

She concluded: "I'm laughing about it now we're in September I wasn't laughing in May. My mates are p**sing in the group chat, [they] told me I'm not going away with them next year. One drama after another with me, it's horrendous."
