Man Carrying VB Interrupts TV Interview To Give His Two Cents On NSW-VIC Border Closure

It seems like everyone has something to say about the New South Wales and Victoria border closing. But very few people have articulated it as succinctly and poetically as this bloke:

The border was closed at 11:59pm on Tuesday (July 7) to ensure Victorians couldn't get into NSW without a valid reason or permit. The closure was ordered after Victoria saw record spikes in coronavirus numbers and the state wanted to contain as many cases as possible.

While people in parts of Melbourne won't be able to leave their homes for six weeks from midnight tonight, the border closure will be an interesting situation for people who live right on the line.

Albury-Wodonga are two towns that are separated by the Murray River, which separates NSW and Victoria. There are loads of people who might work on one side and live on the other and the closure has now presented a new reality.

While it's suspected these people will be granted permits to allow them to cross either side with ease, it naturally has many residents worried about their future.

News crews have been interviewing people to see what their thoughts were and it seems like one bloke really wanted to give his two cents.

The man, who was carrying a VB tinnie, interrupted a news interview to explain how he was concerned he might not be able to head to Centrelink and do the things he'd normally do.

The unnamed bloke was annoyed that he was being placed in lockdown, even though he was free to walk around and do his normal things.

Hopefully for this man, they sort out the border issue for people in Albury-Wodonga and he can stay happy.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said about the border closure: "That closure will be enforced on the NSW side, so as not to drain on resources that are very much focused on fighting the virus right now across our state.

"I am grateful to the Premier of NSW for her support in giving affect to that.

"This is one of those precautionary measures, it is one of those things that I think will help us in broader terms to contain the spread of the virus."

"[It] is the product of a joint decision and an agreement between the Prime Minister, myself and the Premier of New South Wales, one that I think is the smart call, the right call at this time, given the significant challenges we face in containing this virus."
