Model Defends Herself After Being Accused Of Breaking Law With Topless Photos In Dubai

Model Defends Herself After Being Accused Of Breaking Law With Topless Photos In Dubai

A model has been slammed for posing topless in the Dubai desert and then sharing the pictures on social media - but she insists she's done nothing wrong because her hands 'covered her boobs'.

Luana Sandien posted the trio of snaps six days ago and has come under fire from people accusing her of breaking the law and not respecting the country's strict laws on dress code.

The 27-year-old Brazilian was photographed wearing loose fitting, split-legged white trousers, a black and white headscarf and sunglasses - leaving little to the imagination, which many people weren't happy about.

Luana told the Daily Star she didn't 'mean to embarrass anyone' but people have been quick to accuse her of 'insulting the signs of state sovereignty'.

She said: "It was one of the best pictures I've ever taken, but I didn't mean to embarrass anyone.

"I was careful to cover my breasts with my hands, knowing that in the country it is forbidden to be naked, and even so I was threatened by haters."

When she posted the picture to her 14,000 Instagram followers, Luana added a Portuguese caption which translates to: "The beauty of the desert is that it hides a water well anywhere... (Antoine de saint)."

When someone asked: "How come your ass aint arrested[?]" she responded by saying: "they let me do whatever I wanted (I have my charms)."

Another commented: "Every country has its own law which if you don't follow you will be in trouble... many country [sic] do not allow this, if u don't like it don't go there."

A third added: "It's like standing topless in church, you might think there is nothing wrong, but I'm sure the rest of the congregation will have a different opinion."

According to the Foreign Office: "UAE laws and customs are very different to those in the UK. Be aware of your actions to ensure that they don't offend, especially during the holy month of Ramadan or if you intend to visit religious areas.

"Women should dress modestly when in public areas like shopping malls. Clothes should cover the tops of the arms and legs, and underwear should not be visible. Swimming attire should be worn only on beaches or at swimming pools."
