A woman has shared the hefty costs she incurred after staying in a US hospital while sick with coronavirus. Check it out here, if you're feeling brave:

Posting on TikTok, user @letstalkaboutbusiness shared the itemised list which included lab work amounting to $350,203.50 (£250,700), a $324,349 (£232,200) intensive care unit charge and a $3,423 (£2,450) ultrasound.

In total, the bill came to an eye watering $2,850,776.10 (£2 million). Yikes.

Posting the clip, the woman wrote: "Four months in a USA hospital with Covid-19 total cost..."

Understandably, she ended the video with the word 'wooooooow'.

Here's hoping this lady has got medical insurance, eh?

Fellow TikTok users were also in disbelief at the sky-high costs, with one person posting: "No wait, nooo this cannot be actually true right? This must be some joke right?"

Another wrote: "I'm now happy that 34 percent of my salary goes to taxes."

While a third commented: "No way that's real."

Another user joked: "America really is a third world country in a Gucci belt."

However, a fellow TikToker explained: "This is just what a hospital charges - it's not actually what a person pays. Insurance wipes out almost all of these charges."

In another video posted to TikTok, a woman going by the handle @yorkshirepeach explained how the bill for giving birth can really mount up in the US.

She says: "A lot of people say, 'Well, how much does it cost to have a baby in the States?'"

Pointing to a list of costs, she explains: "Well, this is without insurance, with insurance I think it probably pays at about 80/20 is the usual insurance plan, meaning the insurance pays 80 percent and you pay 20 percent.

"But what the pharmaceutical companies and hospitals do is jack up the prices, so that 20 percent goes higher and higher.

"So here, as you can see, a semi-private room, meaning you're sharing a room, it costs $25,000 there, and then another $26,000 for the actual delivery room, where you go back and have the baby.

"And then the other little bits and bobs that you need coming in at $69,000. Yeah."
