German Police Spark Massive Operation After ‘Headless Body’ Found Near Stream

It was only after firefighters arrived did emergency services realise that they could call off their operation

Despite there being so many crime shows on TV, it would still be horrific to stumble across a dead body.

But you can imagine the shock someone had while walking near a stream in southern Germany as they came across this.

Dressed in a yellow and black striped jumper, blue jeans and trainers, it looked like a person had been murdered and not only been decapitated but also had their hand chopped off as well.

Naturally, police were worried they had a really twisted individual on the run and they needed to be brought to justice immediately.

According to the Washington Post a massive search operation was launched in Baden-Wuerttemberg state. As that operation was gathering pace, police called in the fire department to help with the safe removal of the 'body' and it was only then did everyone realise that this was, in fact, a dummy.

A quick glance at the photo definitely resembles a decapitated person but obviously if you look at it closely, it's a clear fake.

"It really looked like a dead body," a police spokesman said according to Sky News.

The search was obviously called off and hopefully they can have a good ole laugh about this in a few days. But until then, they've launched an investigation into who placed the body near the stream and why the hell anyone would want to do that.

Even if it was a prank, it no doubt will have left the person who stumbled across it struggling to sleep.

It was a similar reaction when a 'severed foot' was discovered on the side of a road in Greater Manchester.

Witness Mohammed Yousaf - who is an owner of the nearby Auto Shop car accessories store - posted footage of the incident on Facebook.

He said: "I got a call from a lady, she was in tears saying there was a foot in the road. I went round there and it looked really realistic. There was loads of traffic queuing down the road, because nobody wanted to drive past it in case they damaged it.

"The police came and at first they approached it very slowly. But as they got closer they realised it was fake. They couldn't believe how real it looked. They said it was the best fake they'd ever seen."

Again, why people reckon this is a LOL-worthy prank is anyone's guess.
