When your hairdresser or barber asks for a photo of your new do for their social media, it's a thrill unlike any other. You finally feel like a 'someone'.

And this is exactly how TikToker @spaghettileti6969 felt when her stylist asked her to send them a selfie of her new look.

However, her jubilation didn't last very long, as she was pretty shocked to find out that when she checked his page to see how her mush looked, it had been edited. Ouch.

But not one to bottle it up, she decided to share her heartbreaking story with her followers. A problem shared and all that.

In the video posted to her account, the caption reads: "My hairdresser asked me to send him a selfie for him to post with my new balayage."

She then shows the photo that she sent to the guy, which is a perfectly fine selfie, absolutely nothing wrong with it.

But when she reveals what was actually shared by her hairdresser, it looks decidedly different. Her eyes been given a darker shade and her skin has clearly been airbrushed.

Since sharing her story, the video has been viewed more than 1.2 million times, with lots of people backing her corner.

Commenting on the post, there were plenty who thought the stylist stepped well over the line.

One user said: "This is so out of order, you looked stunning before. Not on."

Another chimed in: "This is kind of everything that's wrong with our society, though."

"No this is not ok. Unrealistic and unnecessary. You're beautiful in the first one. Don't encourage this behaviour and find a new hairdresser," out a third.

While another added: "This is vile, the original is much better. You're stunning. Hope he's lost a customer."

Last year, Kim Kardashian-West was slated for allegedly editing a snap of herself.

Fans of the reality TV star claimed they spotted a Photoshop fail on one of her Instagram pics, which seems to give her three hands.

The reality star shared some snaps from a pre-lockdown shoot in which she's wearing a snakeskin outfit and has a snakeskin effect edited on to her long hair.

However, some eagle-eyed social media users have pointed out that while her two hands are on the wall in front of her, you can somehow see a little glimpse of her snakeskin-manicured nails in her hair.
