17-Year-Old Stopped Driving On The M60 Pretends To Be 43-Years-Old To Police

Needless to say, the police weren't buying it

A 17-year-old found himself in trouble with the police when he was stopped on a motorway in Greater Manchester and decided to pretend that he was 43-years-old.

Whilst the details of this case aren't that easy to establish, it was put out on the Twitter account of Greater Manchester Police's traffic team.

It seems as if the young man was driving on the motorway in an Audi vehicle when he was stopped by the coppers for one reason or another.

Then, upon questioning from the officers that had stopped him, he decided - against, for one reason or another - to pretend to be a man twice his age.

Needless to say, his ruse did not pay off, and the car was eventually taken away from him by the coppers.

Sharing the bizarre and vaguely amusing incident online, GMP Traffic wrote: "Stopped above the M60 motorway in Stockport by #XT41.

"Driver who was 17 tried to claim he was actually 43 years old.

"Nope not falling for that one, true details passed and he will be reported. Vehicle seized."

You couldn't make it up. Most people have pretended to be a bit older than they are at that age, but usually to attempt to get into a pub or club, or to get their hands on some booze or fags.

Whilst we're not condoning that sort of behaviour either, you absolutely shouldn't be driving a car down the motorway and then kidding on to the police that you're actually a 43-year-old man.

Not only is it illegal, it's also really stupid.

Anyway, it will probably be a while before this 17-year-old is behind the wheel of an Audi on the M60 again.

The only positive to come from this strange affair is that everyone who saw the post online managed to get a bit of a laugh out of it.

Underneath the original Twitter post, one person wrote: "Sorry but that's funny"

Another said: "Lol.. that made chuckle."

A third joked: "I do that all the time. I'm 52 but claim to be 17.

"Doesn't work for me either. You cops are too good."

Very funny.

The moral of the tale is, don't drive illegally on the motorway - of course - but also, if you get busted for doing exactly that, just accept it, rather than coming up with some ridiculous lie.

It'll probably work out better for you in the long run.
