A Grandma Was Shocked When She Spotted Ghosts In A Photograph

The 53-year-old says this isn't the first time she has spotted spectres

There are some things you can just do without when you are trying to enjoy a family day out - and one of them is ghosts.

But that's exactly what happened to one family while they were on a trip in London.

Jane Cunningham, from Stockwell, in East London, was taking photos of her family at the V&A Museum of Childhood, and at first all seemed well. No ghouls, no spirits, nothing.

But, and there's always a but, when she was back at home flicking through the snaps she had taken she noticed two small girls in the background, peering through the window at her.

The eerie photograph shows two small figures looking towards the camera, with one half-submerged in the wall.

But the 53-year-old grandmother doesn't seem to agree, and says she is convinced she has caught spirits on film - well, on her phone, but you get the point.

She said: "I did not expect to see these spirits at all. It was really crazy.

"My daughter asked me to take some photographs of her and it was not until several hours later that we realised these strange people were in the photograph.

"It was a really rainy day and there was no-one outdoors. These two oriental women are very tiny and clearly dressed in outfits from another era.

"You cannot see the one inside the wall and can just see her face, but the one that was in frills, was half in and half out the building.

"It was very out of place as everyone had anoraks on and hoods because it was a rainy day.

"That is what fascinated me so much."

But the real-life horror story doesn't stop there for Jane.

As well as the creepy oriental ghost dolls, she also spotted a purple orb in the shape of a skull on another picture - she just can't catch a break, can she?

Jane explained: "The skull above was really quite frightening because it showed that maybe the girls had been tortured or maybe had lived in a horrible situation back then during the seventeenth century - they had to work day and night, doing such intricate work."

The alleged phantoms were spotted in the west wing of the museum, which is just used to store visitors' prams and buggies.

According to Jane, the room is completely plain and there are no pictures on the walls or displays whatsoever.

The grandmother added: "It was crazy because the whole area was chock-a-block with prams, and it was a grey and miserable day so it's just incredible that someone would be looking through the window like that - half-in and half-out."

Since her sinister visit the gran has turned detective and looked back into the history of the museum and the building itself, to see if there are any clues as to who these spirits belong to.

She said: "Because I am spiritual, I was motivated to undertake research to find out more about these girls. These girls were spirits and they were trying to come through.

"I did a bit of research and found out that during the seventeenth century the building was owned by the gentry but they couldn't afford to complete its decoration.

"It essentially became a women's prison then - housing women to finish off the decoration and building.

"So I presume these women were part of that society in that prison from the orient and they were trying to come through to me and show me they were there."

I know some of you still might not believe Jane, but just hold on, it would seem she's a regular Derek Acorah.

She said: "My house now has a seven-year-old little girl who wasn't going anywhere until I identified her.

"I didn't know her and could not recognise her, so she was just a nuisance really. It was not until my boyfriend recognised her that she went."

Ms Cunningham claims that since the age of 16, she has seen phantoms and ghosts of family members, including her grandmother.

She hasn't returned to the museum yet, but is "excited to visit to check out the area again."

The museum has been contacted for a comment.
