American Man Eats His 30,000th Big Mac And Extends His Record

He is DEFINITELY lovin' it.

An American man has eaten his 30,000th Big Mac this week, in the same McDonald's restaurant where he first tasted the sandwich in back in 1972.

Don Gorske was honoured by the restaurant chain after he scoffed down the milestone burger in the Fox Valley, Wisconsin branch of Maccies this Friday.

This record means that he has eaten at least one Big Mac per day since 1972. That's a hell of a lot of burgers to eat.

He has actually been the record holder for some time now, as Guinness World Records officially documented him at 28,788 in 2016. Gorske says that the only reason that he has achieved this feat is - well - he just really likes burgers.

We could have gathered that much.

He spoke to the press before his historic meal and reminisced about the time he first crossed the McDonald's threshold for a Big Mac.

The 64-year-old said: "At the time it was the only McDonald's in town and I had just gotten my driver's license.

"This one is a biggie for me, something I have been looking forward to."

How do we know he's scoffed so many, you may be asking? Well, he can certainly demonstrate that he paid for them, as he added: "People like to see proof."

So if it's proof you want, he's got it. At a presentation he gave before tucking in he showed off his record books, Gorske showed the receipts, wrappers, and boxes that he has kept over the years. He keeps nearly everything, although he lost about 7,000 items when a tornado ripped the roof off his house.

McDonald's Fox Valley franchisee, D.W. Rause, said: "Don has a passion for Big Macs like no other,"

On top of that, McDonald's USA headquarters said: "We are lovin' Don Gorske's enthusiasm for our iconic Big Mac sandwich and appreciate his ongoing loyalty."

The retired prison guard has only ever missed a few days without eating a Big Mac - once when the restaurant was closed, and another as a mark of respect after his mother died.

Now, you might think that eating that many burgers might be bad for your health, but Gorske claims that he is fighting fit and has low cholesterol.

He continued: "People make fun of me, but it never bothered me," Gorske said. "At my last medical check-up, I had low cholesterol and my blood pressure was perfect."

Fair play then, if it keeps him happy.

Gorske has obsessive compulsive disorder and a strong memory for detail, which have been factors in his meticulous documentation of his hobby - he has calculated that he took just 356 days to eat his first 1,000 Big Macs.

He hasn't looked back since then.

After he was honoured, he did exactly what you'd expect - he bought another Big Mac to eat when he got home.
