A father who left his six-month-old daughter in a hot van for four hours put her in a fridge to try and revive her before she died, police report.

Michael Thedford, 33, was chargedwith manslaughter after police discovered the girl dead in the kitchen.

It later emerged that Thedord, a former high school teacher from Dallas, had dropped off his three and five-year-old children at nursery around 9:00am on Tuesday. When he returned home, he went back to sleep only to wake up and realise he had left his daughter in his van.

When he found she was unresponsive, he put her in the fridge for what the police said was 'an undetermined length of time.'

While trying to perform CPR, he then called his wife and 911.

The temperature outside had reached 32C.
