The event calling on people to storm Area 51 - the famous US military base that supposedly is where they keep the aliens - has now got more than one million people down as 'going'.

The Facebook event was set up a few days ago and asks people to tip out outside the top secret base in Amargosa Valley, Nevada in the early hours of September 20th 2019 in order to get into the base.

The event description reads: "We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let's see them aliens."

First up, this isn't something you should do. If you look at most army bases, you'll see signs everywhere telling you that they're willing to use deadly force to keep out people they don't think should be in there.

Secondly, this is obviously not going to happen. It's a joke. It's worth re-iterating that trying to get into armed forces bases - particularly ones where they're hiding saucer people - is a great way to get your head snicked off with a high-powered weapon.

But hey, you make your own decisions.

Before you do, listen to the advice of some people who might know a thing or two about this. For example, US Air Force spokesperson Laura McAndrews.

McAndrews told The Independent: "[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces.

"The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets."

Yeah, yeah, That's exactly what someone who was hiding secret alien technology from the masses would say.

You're not fooling anyone with your fancy talk, McAndrews.

OK, how about alien 'expert' and physicist Bob Lazar. He claims that he worked at the site where they're really keeping the alien stuff - Site S4.

He also said that you shouldn't try to get into the base. According to Lazar, the last person who tried to 'storm' Area 51 got shot dead.

On Instagram, Bob said: "I have to comment on this 'Storm Area 51' thing. I do understand it was started as a joke by someone, but there are a number of people who are actually planning on showing up.

"This is a misguided idea. Area 51 is a classified research base. There are no aliens or alien technology located there.

"The only place there was ever any alien technology was at Site S4, south of Area 51 proper. That was 30 years ago.

"S4 may have moved decades ago or it's possible it's no longer being used for the project. I do not support this 'movement'.

"The last time someone tried to get in to Area 51 he was shot. This is not the way to go about trying to get more information.

"What is good, is the interest in the subject - the science and technology. That is what would immediately change the world we live in."

So please, if you must, show up at the proposed place at the proposed time, but go there knowing that a) you'll struggle to get in, and b) you might get your head shot clean off.

Oh, and don't forget c) this is all a big joke.

Your call.
