A nudist resort in France has reported a 'very worrying' outbreak of the coronavirus - which has led to warnings for people to stay away.

Health officials from the department that covers the Cap d'Agde resort, near Montpellier, have been forced to make an emergency announcement that visitors must social distance and wear face coverings.

According to the Mirror, the rates of infection are now four times that of nearby communities, with almost 100 holidaymakers so far testing positive.

A spokesman for the Hérault Regional Health Agency (ARS) said: "We are in an alarming situation, therefore we ask that all the people of the village be tested before leaving the place and going elsewhere.

"And we also ask all the people who wish to come to this naturist village to postpone their arrival."

Le Parisien reported the situation is 'very worrying' with the circulation of Covid-19, adding that the area has been classified as having a 'high level of vulnerability'.

ARS also added: "More than 800 screening tests were carried out last week. The results of the tests carried out on Wednesday confirmed nearly 30% of positive cases among people who have visited the naturist village of Cap d'Agde.

"Among the people who volunteered for this screening, the rate of positive cases among people who have visited the naturist village is four times higher than that of people who have stayed in the city of Agde, but who have not visited this village."
