Some might say it was just a matter of time - because it definitely was

You might think that if you constantly mess around with multiple sharp knives that you should expect to one day have an accident - and you'd be absolutely right.

Norwegian artist Jan Hakon Erichsen, who is known for his bizarre minimalist sculptures and contraptions, has been posting videos of his knives and balloons for a while now, so it's no surprise that the inevitable has happened - he's nearly had his own finger off with a knife.

Taking to Twitter to share the picture of his bandaged up hand, he said: "So it turns out I'm an idiot. Yesterday I was making one of my furniture aerobics videos and I was balancing on something sketchy.

"Needless to say I fell, and I fell onto my knife sculpture (second pic) because I'm an idiot who leaves life threatening items standing around."

On the same thread, he posted: "I got two minor cuts on my chin and it doesn't take much fantasy to imagine what could have happened.

"The irony is of course that I haven't used knives in my vids in ages, because I didn't want to have an accident during a pandemic."

Ironic indeed. Jan, whose Twitter bio very wisely advises: "You should definitely not do this at home," added:

After well wishes off fans, the following day he posted another update, after being taken to hospital with his injuries.

He tweeted: "So I've had my surgery and they stitched together my little finger nerve and tendon which were both cut. I'll be fine, but it's going to take a looong time."

It's almost as if playing around with sharp knives is dangerous or something? All the same, get well soon, Jan!
