Man Receives 64 Bank Cards After Asking For Only One

The bank sent him a new card every other day

A man has taken to Reddit to share his story after his bank sent him 64 copies of the same debit card, sending out a new card to him every couple of days.

The man, going only by the name Peter, even shared a picture of all of the cards, and told his tale to the enraptured audience.

He explained: "My bank sent me 64 copies of the same debit card."

Peter then posted the picture of all 60-odd bank cards, still stuck to the paper they came from emblazoned with the logo of the Premium Members Credit Union.

He then stuck around in the comments to attempt to explain to interested parties what exactly the cock up had been.

Peter said: "Back in December, I started receiving replacement debit cards. They'd show up one or two at a time every few days.

"I've called my bank several times but the card issuance is handled by a third party."

That's a serious amount of cards.

"The only difference between each card is the expiration date (and I assume CVV), which are sequential. The first card expires 12/24 and the last expires 04/30 with every card in between, although I seem to be missing 07/29."

He now believes that the bottom of the problem has been reached, as he hasn't received any new cards for over a week now after cancelling his card.

I haven't received any in 10 days, which is a new high score. I assume the glitch has been fixed," he said.

"The card has since been cancelled and the new replacement they sent me only showed up once."

Since he shared his unique - we think - predicament, 126,000 people have upvoted his post in the 'Mildly Interesting' subreddit, and 4,300 people have commented on the matter.

One person said: "Turn them into playing cards. All you have to do is to write numbers on their backs and you have the weirdest deck in existence."

Just the one would have sufficed.

Not a bad idea. You'd have to imagine you could doctor a card reader to read them all as well, ensuring no cheating.

Answers on a postcard regarding that madcap scheme.

Another person commented: "Just in case 63 are lost or stolen."

A third person joked: "Could be the 2021 version of making it rain, except instead of cash, it's debit cards."

Either way, he can't complain about not getting a prompt service from his bank. Unless of course it's regarding him trying to stop them sending cards.
