People Baffled As 20C Heat And Snow Forecast Within Same Seven Days

That's April weather for you

So, you've probably noticed that the first real hot weather of the year is due to arrive tomorrow, creating a great deal of excitement and sending people scrambling around shops for beer and barbecue coals.

However, a lot of people are equally baffled because less than a week later, it's forecast to snow.

Yes, that is the weird and wonderful weather systems that we have to endure around this place.

In certain parts of the UK tomorrow it could even reach as high as 24C, but then temperatures are set to plummet back down below average for this time of the year within a matter of days, meaning that we could - quite literally - see all four seasons in the same week.

While it will no doubt be nice to have a bit of sun after this seemingly never-ending winter, it will be quite a shock if the forecast snow does eventually arrive.

The forecast from Met Office weather expert Greg Dewhurst last week said: "Into next week large swathes of southern England and Wales will be dry with warmer temperatures than expected for this time of year, the average for March being 11-12C.

"The mercury could reach a high of around 18C on Monday, with Tuesday seeing highs of 24C (75.2F).

"Much of the UK will remain dry and bright until Wednesday, while parts of Scotland will see some heavy showers."

Sounds great, but today BBC's Carol Kirkwood predicted: "Warming up is really the forecast for the start of the week.

"It is not going to remain that way by the end of the week and it will be much colder.

"Into the Easter weekend, it is going to be cold, particularly so on Easter Sunday and also Easter Monday.

"For some of us, there will be some wintry showers as well."

Spring weather, eh? What are you like?

This hasn't passed unnoticed on Twitter.

One person wrote: "Wtf is the UK weather like this?

"21 degrees tomorrow but snowing next week ehh??"

Another said: "Literally UK weather for you."

A third shared a picture of their local forecast and wrote: "When they ask 'what's the UK like?'"

So, enjoy the hot weather while you can, because - like all good things in life - it will be fleeting.

However, while it remains, get the barbecue warmed up, get some beers on the go, and maybe even enjoy some outdoor sport - we're allowed to do that again from today, by the way.
