A police officer has been reprimanded by his force because of the videos he has posted on TikTok.

Officer Narinder Mahi shared videos on the social media video sharing site in which he appeared topless, sang a few songs, and - on one occasion - mimed to a sexualised joke.

Now, West Midlands Police have ticked him off and reminded him of his responsibilities after discovering his private account.

In one video, the PC could be seen mouthing: "Have you tried Indian yet darling?

"Oh you must. Once you go brown, the other colours let you down."

This particular joke is a line from Indian comedian Vir Das, but you can see why Mahi's bosses might deem it slightly unprofessional and unacceptable.

In another video, Mahi - who treads the beat in the Lozells and East Handsworth area of Birmingham - appears topless and sings Indian music.

According to The Sun, Mahi refers to himself as 'Special Agent Fox', but denies that he was on duty at the time of filming of any of his videos.

He also said that the sexual Indian joke was just a 'joke thing'.

West Midlands Police confirmed that he'd been spoken to about his online antics, and said that Mahi had fallen 'short of the behaviour expected' from an officer.

He's expected to get a telling off and will be 'advised about his future conduct'.

A statement from West Midlands Police said: "Our Professional Standards Department has assessed the conduct of the officer, which fell short of the standards of Professional Behaviour expected of police officers.

"The matter will be dealt with under the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020, through practice requiring improvement, and advised about his future conduct."

Mahi received a Commanders Award in 2017 for his actions in the line of duty. He gave first aid to a victim of crime and then helped to apprehend the attackers.

It isn't immediately clear how his superiors discovered his personal TikTok account.

This isn't the first time that a police officer has found themselves in hot water because of their TikTok shenanigans.

In August 2019, PC Jonathan Gould found himself under investigation after sharing a video of himself lip-syncing to a rap song whilst supposedly working at a crime scene.

Gould took part in the 'EmEm challenge', in which he rapped a song whilst dancing suggestively, but included in the caption that he was 'on a crime scene'.

After that incident, Avon and Somerset Police said they were reviewing the footage and looking into whether any action was necessary against Gould.

A spokesperson said: "We're aware of videos posted on social media featuring one of our officers.

"We expect the highest standards of professionalism from all our officers and staff at all times and will look at the circumstances relating to the videos closely before deciding what action, if any, is necessary."
