Zach Fernandez, aka Jesus Hands, has claimed that he and his creative partner and former wife Sarah Fern are the masterminds behind the Hollyweed sign.
If you missed it, people woke up in LA on January 1st a little hungover and a lot confused about how the iconic sign on the Hollywood hills had changed to read "Hollyweed". It wasn't a meme or an optical illusion - someone had actually taken the time to changed the letters so it read "Hollyweed".

This isn't the first time the sign has been tampered with.
Back in 1976, Daniel Finegood was in art school and, for a project, he and a couple of friends changed the Hollywood sign to read "Hollyweed" with $50 worth of curtains.
And he got an A on his art project - and made history.
The sign has been changed a few times since then, to read "Holywood" or "Ollywood" - I mean there's not much you can do with it.

Jesus Hands followed suit with a homage to Finegood 40 years later. He and Sarah Fern climbed up the giant letters and clamped sheets to change the letters, he claims.
He said: "I did it out of love and a certain peace from within. 2016 was a rough year for a lot of people...Pot art. That's what it is."
The two are both keen on marijuana - unsurprisingly. The laws in California around the drug have relaxed and they wanted to celebrate that.

The LAPD are not really seeing it as an act of love and peace - to them it's more vandalism and are still investigating who is behind it. Jesus Hands isn't too worried, though - he says he thinks he'll get a slap on the wrist at most.
In true surfer dude fashion, Jesus Hands says no one should take life so seriously. Yeah man, we should all chillax.
