Viral Video Of Woman Pouring Bleach On Men 'Manspreading' Is Fake

Remember Anna Dovgalyuk? Maybe not. But what if I asked, do you remember the woman running around the metro pouring bleach on manspreaders' groins?

It might not be something you have a fond recollection of but you know what I'm on about at the very least.

Russian law student Anna called herself a 'social activist' who accused men sitting with their legs spread apart of 'gender aggression'.

The 20-year-old was believed to have mixed water with bleach before pouring it on the groins of anyone that didn't have their legs clutched together.

After the video went viral, Russian news outlet Rosbalt claimed that it was a fake and actors were used. But Anna denied that, saying: "My action is absolutely real. I don't think people are going to go to the police to file a report about jeans."

And now it would seem that the shocking footage was in fact completely fake, because according to EU vs Disinfo, Stanislav Kudrin, one of the men in the recording, was actually paid to act as a victim. It's all coming out now.

In a post on his Facebook page, Kudrin said it was 'naturally staged', adding: "That feeling when you come to the shoot with two spare pants and leave with a salary."

According to 9Gag, Anna and her crew claimed in an interview that all of the men in the video are real... well, we didn't think they'd used fake men.

But when asked about Kudrin, they said they don't remember everyone and the interview was soon deleted.

At the time, Anna was claiming that the solution was 30 litres of water and six litres of bleach and was designed to leave a mark on those who were splashed.

She said: "This solution is 30 times more concentrated than the mixture used by housewives when doing the laundry. It eats colours in the fabric in a matter of minutes - leaving indelible stains.

"We not only cooled the manspreading down but also marked them with identification spots, so everyone can immediately understand which body part controls the behaviour of these men."

Some people were certainly riled by the activist's actions, with one social media user offering the following explanation: "Manspreading is done because it's uncomfortable to close our legs due to our testicles."

And it seems that there could be a scientific argument to support this point. Spinal neurosurgeon, John Sutcliffe, told the Independent that a lack of pelvic width could be behind manspreading.

He said: "The overall width of the pelvis is relatively greater in females and the angle of the femoral neck is more acute. These factors could play a role in making a position of sitting with the knees close together less comfortable in men."

One social media user was slightly less scientific.

"Manspreading is done because it's uncomfortable to close our legs due to our testicles," they said.

Fair.
