Experts are baffled after a weird wolf-like animal has been found in Montana.

The animal, which was shot earlier this month, looks like a wolf, but experts have pointed out that its legs and body are too short and that it doesn't have the type of fur that wolves usually have.

Ty Smucker, wolf management specialist for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, told The Great Falls Tribune: "Several things grabbed my attention when I saw the pictures.

"The ears are too big. The legs look a little short. The feet look a little small, and the coat looks weird.

"There's just something off about it."

The body is now undergoing a DNA test to reveal what it is.

Of course, online people are coming up with all kinds of weird theories and the animal is being hailed as everything from a werewolf to a family member of Bigfoot. Others have said it could be a baby grizzly bear.

One commenter said: "That could very well be what's being called Dogman. They're spotted each day and the government quells any and all reports. Several people report being strong armed into keeping quiet about their reports by men wearing black suits. These are just facts. Look into if if you don't believe it." Huge if true.

What we do know, according to a statement by the FWP, is: "The animal was a young, non-lactating female and a canine, a member of the dog family, which includes dogs, foxes, coyotes and wolves."

She was shot near to a ranch after she came within a few hundred yards of the rancher's livestock. After shooting it, as required by law, he reported the animal, but when experts responded they were puzzled by what they found.

A number of wolf-experts have said she isn't a purebred wolf. So, she was taken off to a lab for further investigation.

The statement continued: "Nevertheless, social media was quick to pronounce the animal as everything from a wolf to a wolf hybrid to something mythical."

The FWP said it will take several weeks before we find out what type of animal she was, giving us all plenty of time to come up with more odd theories. My money is on baby Bigfoot.
