People are speculating about what the bizarre orange light could be

Is this finally proof that aliens are not only out there, but also coming here?

Nah, probably not. But what is it?

The footage, which was shot over South Carolina's Kiawah Island recently, seemingly shows a weird orange glowing object in the sky.

The video was shared on YouTube by Debra Thomson, who uses the name Kiawah Island Girl. She said she spotted the object at 9.33pm EST just off the coast of Charleston in South Carolina.

In the caption, she wrote: "I have an unobstructed view in all directions. Earlier in the evening, I put a light up Christmas tree on outside light up. I went outside to unplug it when I noticed this beautiful red sphere in the sky. I knew it was not Venus, it was in the North West Sky. It was moving toward my direction and also seemed intelligently in control."

She went on to say it 'moved around a bit' before it 'disappeared into a pinhole', before it 'reappeared back to its same size in a few minutes'.

Speaking to the Post and Courier, she said: "I've seen some strange things out there. A lot of people around here have. They don't like to talk about it because you can get a reputation. But I've got it on film."

Trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious object, Thomson called the local airport where she was informed by staff that nothing had appeared on the radar system and that it wasn't a weather balloon.

I mean, it's probably just one of those Chinese lanterns, isn't it? Or is it? Well, I don't know... don't ask me.

Since posting the video, speculation has grown about what it could possibly be - with aliens being a popular option. Others posted to say that they had seen something similar, too.

But then the plot thickens, because back on New Year's Day in 2015 an orange disc was spotted over Kiawah Island. Weird, eh? And then, one hour after the initial UFO was sighted, a 'glowing red object' was then seen nearby - it reportedly hung around in the sky for two hours. So clearly not in any rush our extra-terrestrial friends, then.

Then in January of last year, 'glowing orange balls' appeared over Charlotte in South Carolina, making the place a bit of a hot-spot for UFOs. So, there you go - the truth is out there, just above South Carolina, apparently.
