Brazilian Woman Pretends To Be Pregnant To Stash 3kg Of Cocaine

Nice try.

I've always thought that if you wanted to pull off a drug smuggling operation, you'd involve either a pregnant woman or an older person. Surely the police wouldn't search them, or would they?

Well it appears that Brazilian police don't let anyone get through without a proper check.

Military cops pulled over a bus that was heading down the Marechal Rondon highway near Birigui, in south of the country. The routine inspection turned into a very fruitful arrest when they discovered a young woman sitting in ripped jeans and a black hoodie.

While the 24-year-old appeared to be well into her pregnancy, the police lifted up her jumper and saw a big lump covered in tape where her 'baby' was supposed to be.

The cops carefully cut away the tape until they found three kilograms of cocaine. That's a UK street value of £90,000-120,000.

There was a man travelling with the lady as well, but it's not clear yet what charges they both face.

Five years ago police in Brazil intercepted another woman travelling across the country. The 20-year-old became nervous during routine question and upon further inspection cops found she had a little more than two kilograms of cocaine strapped to her stomach.

But one Canadian woman took it a step further in her attempt to smuggle drugs out of Colombia. The 28-year-old woman had a fake stomach attached to her body to make it look like she was actually pregnant, instead of just tonnes of tape.

But she slipped up when an officer asked her how far along in her pregnancy she was. The tourist reacted angrily and that pricked the officer's interest. They later found two kilograms of cocaine stashed in the latex belly.

If faking a pregnancy isn't your thing then you can always use a homing pigeon, just make sure it knows where it's going. This cheeky bird was captured in Kuwait after it flew over the border from Iraq.

According to local newspaper Al-Rai, there were 178 ecstasy pills were found in a small bag attached to the bird's back.

Pigeons have been used for many years to send messages as far as 1,800 kilometres (1,100 miles) away. Their average flying speed is roughly 50 mph (80km/h) - so they're great for ferrying things quickly.
