Lad Faked His Own Death To Get Out Of 'Unhappy Relationship'

Wow.

If you don't like the person you're in a relationship with, leave them. Honestly, just pack up your stuff, delete them off Facebook, take them out of your top friends on MySpace or whatever you do these days.

Don't cheat, don't get gradually more and more distant until they leave you and most importantly, don't fake your own death.

A solicitor has allegedly been caught doing just that after his ex-girlfriend made her way to his funeral. The staff there obviously had no clue what she was on about and it unraveled like the jumper your nan made for you at Christmas.

First of all, how did he fake his death? Why was she given a date and time for the funeral that she was definitely going to go to? Plus, isn't a solicitor clever enough to know that absolutely none of this makes sense?

Sadly, the solicitor has to remain anonymous, so we'll probably never know the answers to any of these questions.

The Roll On Friday website (basically a website that provides a tongue-in-cheek take on the legal world each week) said: "The Coventry-based lawyer dated the woman in 2013.

"But one night she received a text from his mobile phone purporting to be written by another member of his family.

"It conveyed the shocking news that after a very short illness he had died suddenly.

"In subsequent text conversations the 'family member' reluctantly provided details of the funeral, explaining that it was taking place a considerable distance away.

"Unperturbed, the grieving woman made the journey to the service, only to discover that staff had no idea what she was talking about."

The unsuspecting girlfriend was clearly very confused, and so her mother contacted his work. Turns out he was there. Chilling at his desk - presumably.

Roll on Friday continued: "She subsequently reported him to the police, and to the SRA for "bringing his trusted profession into disrepute". But apparently it's not in the remit of either body to penalise someone for being a spineless coward."

A spokesman for the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) told the website: "There has been no such formal action taken against the solicitor RollOnFriday has mentioned.

"When assessing complaints about solicitors, we look at the evidence available to us, and the risk any such alleged misconduct poses to interests of clients if repeated".

So there you have it.

Don't fake your death. Okay?
