'Alien' And 'Star Trek' Are Set To Cross Over In New Comic Book

Time to get your nerd on.

Shit the bed - an Alien and Star Trek: The Next Generation cross-over comic book is on the cards.

Before you get more details, let's just discuss who the best character in that franchise of Star Trek is!

In the office, Patrick is saying Number 1 (Commander William T. Riker), Jono is saying Data, James reckons Jean-Luc Picard and Paddy said Princess Leia, cos he's a dickhead.

I like Goerdi La Forge and Lieutenant Worf, probably just edging for Goerdi.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the new story will be released in April next year and will have the title 'Acceptable Losses'. That sounds underwhelming to me! How about 'Megadeath Laser Sci-Fi Romp'. Or 'Get Away From Space, The Final Frontier, You Bitch'. Shooting from the hip here.

The storyline for the new comic is, so far, being kept strictly under wraps but it's being produced by IDW Publishing and Dark Horse Comics, which have already signed up writers Scott and David Titpton, as well as JK Woodward.

And it's not the first time the three have worked together on a cross-over project such as this. Previously they got together to come up with Star Trek: The Next Generation and Doctor Who.

IDW, which owns the rights to Star Trek: The Next Generation, has been involved with a number of other science fiction titles in recent years. As well as Doctor Who, the crew has also spent time working on the Green Lantern and been involved with the Planet of the Apes.

In other Alien related news, the new movie Alien Covenant is out in the UK and US on August 4 next year. It stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace who, of course, were both in Prometheus. Idris Elba does not make an appearance as the pilot because his character is very much dead.

Legendary director Ridley Scott is also heading it up.
