Ant McPartlin Checks Into Rehab For Drink And Drugs Problem

TV star Anthony McPartlin has checked into rehab after ­admitting drink and drugs problems to TV-partner Dec Donnelly and his wife.

The I'm A Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent television co-host confessed that he is experiencing the problems after long-standing issues with depression and anxiety.

The Mirror reported that Ant, 41, wept as he ­revealed the crisis to his wife Lisa Armstrong and co-star Dec, also 41.

Ant suffers from chronic pain caused by knee problem and it has led to him becoming reliant on pain-killers.

Speaking to The Sun On Sunday, Ant said: "The first step is to admit to yourself you need help.

"I've let people down. I'm truly sorry.

"I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I'm truly sorry.

"I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends through this really difficult time.

He added: "I have spoken out because I think it is important that people ask for help if they are going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery."

He is expected to spend at least two months in a clinic.

Ant married make-up artist Lisa in 2006 and he has discussed in interviews how the couple had hoped to have children.

Speaking earlier this yearthe Geordie star said: "I think I'm lucky.

"Lisa works in the industry and understands it. She's constantly working - sometimes more than me!"

Speaking about how he hoped their marriage would progress, he said: "We would love to have a family so fingers crossed.

"If we're blessed with children, then we'd be over the moon!"

Back in January, Ant and Dec were honoured by the Prince of Wales for services to broadcasting and entertainment.

Despite his problems there's no denying that Ant is a top guy and we just hope he gets the help he needs.
