Cillian Murphy Reveals The Crazy Number Of Cigarettes He's Smoked On The Set Of 'Peaky Blinders'

If you haven't watched season 1 and 2 of Peaky Blinders already, seriously, stop everything and go and get them watched right now.

The BBC drama is arguably the best thing on the telly and the first episode of season 3 airs on May 5 - so you've got a whole week to binge-watch.

If you're not already familiar with it, it's a gangster family epic set in Birmingham in 1919 and, honestly, it's fucking sick.

Cillian Murphy plays Thomas Shelby, the boss of the historical Peaky Blinders gang who operated in Birmingham during the aftermath of World War I.

They were nicknamed that because they used to sew razor blades into the peaks of their caps. Crazy bastards.

Tommy is an extremely violent racecourse businessman turned crime lord but he's cool as fuck and you can't help but root for him.

He's always suavely dressed and somehow ends up with a gun pointed to his head most episodes.

He also puffs on fags in almost every scene and he's now revealed that he's smoked roughly 3,000 herbal cigarettes since the show began filming in 2013.

"People did smoke all day [back then] and it just became a Tommy thing," Cillian told the Independent.

"There were these rose cigarettes that are herbal - Steve [Knight, the creator] would joke they're one of your five a day.

"I asked the prop guys to count how many I smoked just out of interest, and they think it's something like 3,000."

Bloody 'ell, Tommy.

Excitement is building on social media and loads of fans have been tweeting about the upcoming series which will see the return of Tom Hardy.

"Can they hurry up and air Peaky Blinders," another posted.

Another fan tweeted: "All I need to complete my life is series 3 of Peaky Blinders."

Here's the synopsis:

"Season 3 will see Tommy pulled into the glamorous and dangerous world of international intrigue in 1920s Britain, putting his entire organization and family at risk, and forcing him to question everything about his own ambitions and desires."

Seriously, get on it! By order of the Peaky Blinders.
