'Eden' Contestants Return To Civilisation Seven Months After The Show Last Aired

You'd be so pissed off.

Ah reality TV shows, love them or loathe them they are very much a part of society now.

If watching people with too much fake tan on screaming at each other, isn't your cup of tea, then other shows like The Apprentice or Survivor might appeal to you.

One show you may not have heard of was called Eden, which aired on Channel 4. A reality show which tasked its contestants with setting up a new society, away from the 'real world', making up their own rules and hierarchy as they went along/

It began with the brave cast walking through a gate in the 7ft fence that enclosed 600 acres, five miles from Acharacle.

The show then followed the group of strangers who were left to fend for themselves in the Scottish wilderness.

Filmed by the contestants themselves, along with some fixed cameras, they began in March last year, with the first episode going out on 18 July.

In total 23 people took part, to set up their 'dream society'. More than half the cast quit, as the camp was torn apart by hunger, rows and sexual jealousy.

But 10 contestants decided to stick it out until the bitter end and they have now left the wilderness. What did they get when they returned to civilisation? A fan-fare? A cash prize? A quick chat with Davina? Nah, they learnt that the show had been canned months ago and no one had seen them on screen since last August.

In fact, only four episodes were ever shown, in July and August last year. Shit.

A Channel 4 spokesman told the Press and Journal that the show had "drawn to a close", and while no date has been confirmed, it is set to air at another time.

Speaking to the publication, local resident Maria Macpherson claimed: "The last 10 have left. In the end the show was a joke.

"Some of the participants were even seen in the dentist at Fort William needing treatment after eating chicken feed grit. It has not done this area any favours - it has just not lived up to expectations."

'It has just not lived up to expectations' is a pretty massive understatement. These 10 poor bastards have spent the last year living like cavemen for a telly show that isn't being aired.
