Gordon Ramsay has gone off on one about being criticised for flying first class while his kids are in economy.

The TV chef, who is worth an estimated £30 million, revealed he and wife Tana fly luxury earlier this year and his children fly in the cheap seats.

Speaking after the broadcast of his show The F Word, he said: "I got shit last week from a major newspaper for not sitting my kids in first class.

"I did not fly on a fucking plane until I was 19 years of age. And when I sat on the plane cramped for eight hours with food that was cooked three weeks ago I was just happy to take off and be in a plane.

"The fact that I am going to sit a six year old in a first class seat for £15,000 to fly from LA to London...Fifteen thousand pounds

"Why does my six year old need a big fucking seat, a 10 course menu with caviar and champagne in first class."

Ramsay has four children - Matilda 15, Jack and Holly, 17, and Megan, 18

He's copped a lot of flak after he said when they travel he will fly in first-class whilst his kids were forced to slum it in economy. He's also said that they won't be left his multi-million-pound fortune in his will, and they don't get much now.

It comes after he was asked by the Mirror if he was surprised by criticism for the revelation.

Gordon insisted: "No. I have got to keep it real with the kids, and also I think just getting kids at the age of five, six and seven, used to first class and those big seats, they do not need the space, they get entertainment on their iPads.

"So I like to think about what you can do with the money when you land, rather than paying out thousands of dollars for eight, nine ten-year-olds to sit in first class.

"I do not want them sat there with a 10 course fucking menu with champagne. I am not embarrassed. It is my wife and I's choice to discipline them and to keep them real."

So it seems the 'massive dickhead, or teaching his kids some bloody work ethic' debate will continue to rage on.
