Tributes have poured in for Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher, who it was announced had passed away earlier today aged 60.
Best known for playing Princess Leia Organa, Fisher also starred in The Blues Brothers, Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters in 1986 and, later, When Harry Met Sally.
Family spokesman Simon Halls, speaking on behalf of Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, said on Tuesday: "It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother, Carrie Fisher, passed away at 8:55 this morning.
"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."
Celebrities, including her Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill, Star Trek legend William Shatner, Stephen Fry and Josh Gad, reacted to the news of the movie icon's death, paying heart-warming tributes...
It is clear from those who worked with her and knew her that she will be sadly missed.
RIP to the one and only Princess Leia.
