Legendary star of The Royle Family, Ricky Tomlinson, caused a wonderfully awkward moment on Good Morning Britain earlier today.
He was on the show to talk about the death of his co-star and good friend, Caroline Aherne, who passed away earlier this year. It started off as heart-warming, but in classic Scouse style Ricky couldn't resist an opportunity to go in on Maggie Thatcher.
Talking about Caroline, he said: "She was fabulous. Her skills of watching people and making a joke out of it was unbelievable.

"But there was nothing sacred, there was no sort of boundaries that she wouldn't have a go at and now and again I do little speeches and little talks and I tell some stories about Caroline which I couldn't repeat on your programme this morning because they're very rude, but they're very funny.

"She was a wonderful person and very generous... I will love her forever."
So far, all very lovely. This is all the sort of stuff Piers and Suzanne were definitely expecting him to say.
But then his closing comments?

He said: "Why didn't she have a state funeral? Margaret Thatcher had a state funeral and everyone hated her!" Boom.
The look on Suzanne's face is perfect. Piers laughs it off and even says: "Well, Ricky you have a point." Which sets Ricky off laughing.
Twitter seemed to love Ricky's comment, with people calling him 'pure class' and a 'legend'.
