The name of the man responsible for shattering the dreams of several Hollywood actors, producers, directors, make-up artists, choreographers and superfans at the Oscars has been revealed.
Accountant Brian Cullinan has been named by his firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as the person responsible for the "series of mistakes" that led to La La Land being accidentally read out as the winner of Best Picture in a moment described as the 'biggest fuck-up in Oscars history'.

According to a statement released by the consultancy giant, Cullinan and his colleague, Martha Ruiz, did not follow protocols "quickly enough" once "the error occurred."
"PwC takes full responsibility for the series of mistakes and breaches of established protocols during last night's Oscars," the statement read.
"Partner Brian Cullinan mistakenly handed the back-up envelope for Actress in a Leading Role instead of the envelope for Best Picture to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. Once the error occurred, protocols for correcting it were not followed through quickly enough by Mr. Cullinan or his partner."
It emerged yesterday that, in a cruel twist of irony, last week Cullinan, a veteran at PwC, claimed the company's 83-year relationship with the Oscars had lasted because it had always done a "good job," adding that the Academy had "absolute trust in us and what we do."

The night's biggest award - Best Picture - was handed to the wrong film, because presenters Beatty and Dunaway were given the wrong envelope. It had the name of La La Land's Emma Stone, who had won Best Actress moments before.
The producers were accepting the award and making speeches, when all of sudden it was announced that, actually, Moonlight had won.
Justin Horowitz, the La La Land producer, had just finished his acceptance speech when news of the mistake was revealed on stage.

Reflecting on the incident on ABC News, Horowitz said: "It was a surreal moment, for sure. But I wanted to make sure the right thing was done. At that point it was not about me, it was about making sure Moonlight got the recognition it really deserves. Those guys are my friends and I wanted to make sure they had their moment."
He added: "There was a lot of confusion onstage, and at a certain point it was clear that the wrong envelope had been given. Then they kind of showed us the Best Picture envelope and it said Moonlight, that's when I jumped to the mic and made sure everybody knew what was going on and showed the card, because people needed clarity in that moment."
