Cheesy Bacon Chips Are Being Added To The McDonald's Menu

About time.

Cheesy chips might be one of the staple foods at your local takeaway but, as yet, many chain joints have failed to relent to the current of popular taste by adding them to their menus.

But according to reports, this could all be about to change with McDonald's' latest unveiling.

Brand Eating reports that McDonald's is testing out the new product in certain US cities. They're calling it the Loaded Bacon & Cheese Basket of Fries - which is a pretty self-explanatory name.

The cost is just $3.99 (£3.10), which about the same as local takeaways charge at the moment, only Maccies are stepping it up a gear by throwing bacon into the mix.

If you want to give them a try, then you'll be happy to know that the Loaded Bacon & Cheese Basket of Fries has so far been spotted in the greater Pittsburgh area, central West Virginia, southeast Ohio, and eastern Kentucky.

Cheesy chips aren't the only Maccies product that we're missing out on here in Britain - earlier this year we reported that pizza was available to buy in two McDonald's restaurants in the States.

Apparently the McPizza is a throwback to the 80s, when they were first introduced around the country. They were available until the late 90s, when they were dropped by most outlets as the 11-minute cooking time went against the company's 'fast food' philosophy.

But you can still buy the product in Pomerory in Ohio and Spencer in West Virginia, with fans travelling from all over the world to taste it.

Mitchell Boughner, Nathan Dallaire and Dan Sutherland, for instance, drove from Canada to West Virginia to sample the pizza.

The road trip took them more than eight hours each way and cost them $70 USD (£54) each, including the pizza.

They recorded their journey here...

So jealous.
