Terrible News Everybody, The Firm That Makes Pink Panther Wafers Has Gone Bust

Look, we've all made jokes about how 2016 is the worst year ever and how we can't wait to see the back of it, but this is serious now.

Rivingon Biscuits, the company which makes Pink Panther Wafers, has gone into administration and it has ruined Christmas for everyone. The firm has blamed the situation on the fall in the value of sterling following the UK's decision to leave the EU.

FRP Advisory, which has been appointed as administrator, said that the company had 'particularly challenging trading conditions over the past year resulting in significant pressure on profit margins and cash flow'.

A spokesperson said: "The problems were compounded by the sharp decline in the value of the pound against the euro. The company was left with no viable alternative other than to seek the protection of administration while a long-term solution can be explored."

Ninety-nine of the company's 123 employees have been made redundant, with the remaining staff staying on until it finds a buyer.

This is absolutely tragic.
