Buddy The Elf's Dark Side Has Been Exposed And It's Not Pretty

He's evil.

What do you think of Elf? Good Christmas film? Something nice to watch over the festive season? A family favourite young and old alike can enjoy? A heart-warming 96 minutes of cinema? A movie that captures the spirit of the season? A bit of fun?

If you answered 'yeah' to any of those questions, then what you are about to read may change your opinion. In fact, if you're a big fan of the movie you might want to do yourself a favour and avert your eyes, because once this is read, it can never be unread.

Sometimes, as the old phrase goes, ignorance is bliss.

There's a new fan theory that says everything you ever thought to be true about the movie is a lie. The theory claims Buddy was actually an insidious force among Santa's helpers and he certainly wasn't as innocent as he made himself out to be.

Reddit user Batfan5 says a number of incidents in the film prove Buddy was a terrible, terrible human-being. One example he provides is the scene where Buddy (Will Ferrell) walks in on Jovie (Zooey Deschanel) whilst she's singing naked in the shower.

'Just a mistake,' you might think, but lets just give it another watch shall we...

Batfan5 claims: "Buddy, the sicko he is, was actually trying to peep on Zooey while she was in the shower, and played his sick fetish off as innocence and just wanted to sing a Christmas song."

In the movie itself Jovie questions him, saying: "You sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I was naked in the shower?'

Buddy replies: "I didn't know you were naked..."

However, you see Buddy showering earlier in the film and he's naked. What does that mean? Well, he almost certainly knew people get their kit off when they take a shower. So why was he walking in then? Hmm.

Further evidence of his 'sinister' side is when he attacks a group of schoolkids on their way home from school with snowballs. 'He's just helping his friends', you might protest, but surely Buddy's skill in the fight is proof he has a history of hyperborean violence.

Given he can throw snowballs with the speed and precision of an uzi, it's not too far a stretch to think that prior to the beginning of the film's story he was the Tony Montana of the Arctic Circle, picking off the smaller guys living round the grotto with snowballs he packed with stones.

Batfan5 finishes up, by stating that he believes Buddy 'uses his so-called innocence to verbally abuse a man with a disability' at work.

Not very nice at all. Who's this Buddy think he is making jokes like that? Does he think the viewing public are fools? A classic case of someone being wilfully offensive, then pleading ignorance in my view. Although the Redditer claims to have been joking, I'm not too sure. I'm onto you Buddy.

Somebody here is sitting on a throne of lies.
