Elaborate Marriage Proposal At Baseball Game Goes Horribly Wrong

Elaborate Marriage Proposal At Baseball Game Goes Horribly Wrong

Oh dear.

I'm not sure I entirely believe in the institution of marriage but - that aside - if I do ever bring myself to go down on one knee and ask some lucky lady to be by wife, then I sure as hell won't be hoping to create some red-hot #ViralContent whilst I'm doing it.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I fundamentally think that playing an intimate moment of your life for the hollow validation of social media engagement cheapens said moment of intimacy.

So, I'm not gonna lie, as much as I should feel sorry for the guy in this video, I can't help but find it a little amusing too.

A cameraman claims to have captured when a bloke staged an elaborate proposal at a South Carolina baseball match

The would-be groom got four of his mates to perform an uncoordinated routine on the field as Bruno Mars's 'Marry You' played.

The four of them then hoisted signs into the air asking the woman to marry the guy and the camera pans to the proposer who gets down on one knee.

Was it to be? Surely, there could be one answer to the question considering all the thought he had put into it.

No.

The woman shakes her head, grabs her bag and storms out.

The internet being the internet there were also a whole load of people who took to social media to call bullshit on the entire thing.

One Instagram user saying: "The proposal was fake. It was a prank."

Was it true? Who knows. But sometimes when it's a choice between the truth and the legend, why not believe legend.

Speaking of legends, Pash Canby thought it'd be a brilliant idea to drop a prank midway through a proposal. Luckily, for him, it all came off.

Proposing at any time is a nerve-wracking experience for any LAD. The moment, as well as the answer, must be right.

There are times when it goes wrong...

And the worst bit is that we don't know what happened if the ring was found!

Pash, a tattoo artist from Plymouth, Devon, got a fellow holidaymaker to film the moment when he got down on one knee during their two-week trip to Thailand.

As he got up to put the ring on the soon-to-be-Mrs Natalie Canby, he let the ring slip out of his fingers and into the lagoon.

It left Natalie Ripley with her heart in her mouth, and shaking. Her perfect moment ruined by her butter-fingered other half.

After pausing for dramatic effect, Pash reveals it's all a big joke (after using a cheap imitation) and produces the real £2,000 ring from his pocket to do the deed properly.

Pash and Natalie are congratulated with cheers and applause from their fellow holiday goers.

"I saw the ring going into the sea and I started shaking," said 28-year-old Natalie.

"Two guys jumped into the water and started looking for it. I didn't know what was going on.

"Pash is so clumsy, literally he's the most clumsy person I know, so I thought it was real."

A clumsy tattoo artist, great...

She later revealed that she wasn't cross with her new fiancé,and was just relieved. The awaiting audience just made it an even better prank.

Pash, 30, revealed that he had the plan before jetting off to the Far East.

"Me and my brother cooked it up together the day before we left. One idea just let to another," he said.

"We were on the beach and I told Natalie I needed to go to Starbucks to check my messages. But really I was off on the streets trying to find a fake engagement ring."

After a quick barter with the owner, he managed to get one for £4, but had bigger fears. Pash even panicked himself about mixing up the rings and dropping the wrong one.

However, happy days, the couple plan to marry in 2018.
