Getting Jilted At The Altar Was The Best Thing That Happened To This Woman

Getting Jilted At The Altar Was The Best Thing That Happened To This Woman

Creating opportunity out of adversity.

It's said that revenge is a dish best served cold, but Katy Collins disagrees.

Three months before the wedding, her fiancé dumped her. Instead of dwelling on the grief or lashing out at him, she decided she was above that all. Instead, she was going to go travelling.
But she didn't just go on her honeymoon and sob like an awful scene from Bridget Jones' Diary - she decided to backpack solo around the globe instead.

She maintains that "just because you've been dumped it doesn't mean you have to listen to bad power anthems and devour ice-cream. Her blog is full of her adventures travelling the globe and she has inspired other people who have been ditched to go out and live.

She's been called the Backpacking Bridget Jones - (oh hang on, bloody hell, that undermines my previous point a bit). However, unlike Bridget Jones, who spent her time in London guzzling chardonnay and moping over Mr Darcy, Katy has been exploring the planet.

She's been to some amazing places. Here she is in Gili, an island in Indonesia.

Getting her tan on.

Outside Father Ted's house on Craggy Island.

And surfing in Byron Bay in Australia.

She's also got a lucrative book deal out of it. She's about to publish her fourth book in the series The Lonely Hearts Travel Club called 'Destination Chile'.

And it appears she's set to get married again - and has a baby on the way. Let's hope she isn't jilted at the altar this time - although that could mean another successful blog...
