According to the Moscow Times, a man in Russia recently filed a report to the police against his wife accusing her of endangering their children by 'forcing them' to become vegetarians.
"The man who filed the report claimed that his wife, a vegetarian, is forcing their children to give up meat, which is having a negative impact on their growth and development," a police spokesperson said.
Social services visited the family's home in Vladivostok and interviewed the children, but reportedly found them in good health.
"The children didn't complain about their mother, and the living conditions appear to be fine," officials continued.
Police have said they didn't find sufficient reason to continue a criminal investigation.
In 2011 a French vegan couple who solely fed mother's milk to their baby daughter before she died because of a vitamin deficiency were jailed for neglecting their 11-month-old child.
And earlier this year a 14-month-old Italian baby was hospitalised after parents allegedly kept him on a vegan diet without providing dietary supplements, was found to be severely malnourished, suffering from dangerously low calcium levels.
However, there is little evidence to support a vegetarian diet being dangerous for children.
