There are some things you see and they make you lose all hope in humanity. Take this dog called Anubis, whose nose was brutally cut. According to the New York Daily News, he was found hiding under a car in Cairo, when rescuers found him.

The entire upper half of his muzzle was missing and no one knows exactly what happened. However, it's thought that the poor pup was punished for barking too loud - some people!

Despite the injury, the determined dog managed to continue toughing it out on the street, scooping food off the ground with his lower jaw.

However, thankfully, things took a turn for the better when Anubis was rescued by the American based Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation group who took him to the USA.

He was then adopted by Kelly Hutson, 48, from Spring, Texas, who read about Anubis on the Internet.

The Texan, who runs a dog-sitting business, told the New York Daily News: "I pestered them until they said OK. He's a people dog, which is incredible after a human brutalised him in such a manner.

Despite the injury, Kelly said that Anubis was doing okay.

"He doesn't really have any major health problems we're aware of," she added. "He breathes fine, he eats fine, it's amazing. This is the sweetest, most loving creature you'll ever meet."

It's great to see that Anubis is doing better now. It goes to show that for every horrible person out there, there are lots of kind-hearted people too!
