A Plane Has Drawn A Massive Plane Outline In The Sky Across America

This looks fun.

A plane has taken part in a near 18-hour flight across America to draw a massive outline of itself in the skies - and it's pretty impressive.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was given clearance to follow the special route, which was visable on radar and involved the pilot tracing the outline of a plane.

As much as I want to say something sarcastic about this, it's actually pretty cool, isn't it?

Flight BOE004 left Boeing's headquarters in Seattle at 11pm (UK time) last night and took part in a near 18-hour journey at 41,000ft, which included passing over Dakota, Montana and Michigan.

The pilot then swung it by the more central states of the US, before eventually heading to Texas and near to New Orleans.

The flight is thought to have been a final test flight to try out the new engines on the plane, and, according to the BBC it was in the air longer than any commercial flight.

The test flight took 17 hours and 45 minutes to complete, compared to 16 hours, 10 minutes, which is how much time the current longest flight, from New Zealand to Qatar, takes.

Plane enthusiasts - and it must have been a bloody great day for them - were able to follow the Boeing's route on live GPS via the tracking site FlightRadar24.
