Adolf Hitler - what a dickhead. He committed some of the worst crimes in the history of humanity - and was the single-handed cause of millions of senseless deaths.

The stories of his background are gruesome and there is also the question of how a man grew up to develop into that person.

This is creepy but these pictures of the abandoned halls and wards of a hospital where a young Hitler was treated in 1916 after being injured in the Battle of the Somme have started to appear on the internet.

Hitler's leg was wounded during the First World War at the Battle of the Somme. His injuries were treated at the busy military hospital of Beelitz-Heilstätten, south of Berlin.

Beelitz-Heilstätten was abandoned in the 1990s and it's now a decrepit mess. It has rusty hospital beds and broken chairs alongside the graffiti, broken tiles and vine-covered buildings. Urban explorer lads now wander around the buildings taking pictures to give outsiders a glimpse into the past.
