So, yeah, Halloween has been fairly recently, hasn't it? Bonfire night. Christmas Eve. Christmas. Boxing Day. New Year's Eve. New Year's Day. What have we got coming up in 2017?

Oh, yeah, that's right, Valentine's Day, isn't it? The day where couples around the world take a night to remind each other just how special they are. And single people get to choose between the best available options of a) spending a night swiping furiously through Tinder in the hope of finding someone to shag the pain and loneliness away with, or b) shutting themselves into their darkened room to spend a night masturbating to the finest selection of POV porn that Pornhub has to offer.

Well, apparently not all of us. Last year one American women chose an unprecedented option c) pulling a hilarious prank on loads of men she had met in a foreign country.

Victoria Trocino, who's from New York, spent several summers in Dublin studying and interning in public relations, so decided to contact a bunch of people who had given her their number after previous encounters to see if they remembered her.

"We've all been there," she wrote on the blog about the joke which she pulled in Valentine's Day 2016. "We go out, we have fun, we meet someone who is engaging, funny, flirty, and...totally drunk. We dance and maybe kiss at one point but we both know it's not going anywhere, so we exchange numbers as a formality and leave with our respective friends, never to speak to that person again."

And the replies show pretty much what you would expect - if you text a big enough sample of guys a few of them are going to turn out to be arseholes.

Her first reply was Niall 'from seven months ago' who seems to have exactly the same reaction I'd have if a girl from seven months ago decided to hit me up out of the blue...

Then there was the guy who, for reasons I'm not entirely sure of, she had saved as 'The Penguin Erector'.

And up next was 'Ryan', who seems to have mixed up who she was...

And what about this bloke...

"Out of the 17 Valentine's Day messages I sent out, I only got these four conversations in return," she wrote. "But these four conversations exceeded my expectations in every way possible. Man, I miss Ireland."

To be honest, the blogger claims she was doing it as a 'social experiment' but I reckon she just got that Valentine's thirst like we all do. There's no shame to it, Victoria, it happens to the best of us.
