It's fair to say that Manchester United haven't had the best start to the season, picking up just one win in four Premier League matches. The task hasn't been made any easier for Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who's set to be without star midfielder Paul Pogba for this weekend's fixture against Leicester.
Due to a high transfer fee, elaborate celebrations and an ever-changing haircut, Pogba has come under a lot of scrutiny since he arrived back in Manchester, despite being one of the best players in the Premier League in terms of raw talent. In a way he's a player that people love to hate.
It'll be interesting to see how Manchester United get on over the weekend without the Marmite character. They're already lacking in midfield options with Fred seemingly being phased out by the Norwegian manager and PES cover star Scott McTominay not living up to his first season hype.
Since there won't be any talking points about Pogba's actions on the pitch this weekend, let's all learn more about one of the biggest personalities in football to learn about his past, the controversy surrounding him and his career.
How old is Paul Pogba?
Pogba was born on 15 March 1993, making him 26.
Where was he born?
He was born in Lagny-sur-Marne, France. His family formerly lived in Conakry, Guinea but moved to France before Paul was born.
Who are his brothers?
Paul has two brothers, twins Florentin and Mathias, who are also footballers. They play for Atlanta United and Manchego respectively.
Pogba started playing football from the age of six when he joined his first club, US Roissy-en-Brie, which sounds absolutely delicious. Seven years later he joined US Torcy where he became captain for their Under-13s team. He then joined Le Havre which put him on the map. In 2009, he was snapped up by Manchester United where he helped the Under-18s win the Youth Cup. In 2012 he made his Premier League and UEFA Europa League debuts too.
After refusing to sign a new contract at Manchester United, Pogba moved to Juventus on a free transfer, and went on to feature prominently in Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. In 2013, he won the Golden Boy award. Only a year later he was named as one of Europe's top ten most promising players and helped his team win the 2015 Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.
In 2016 Pogba made a sensational return to Old Trafford in a deal worth £89.3 million where he won the EFL Cup and the Europa League. He also helped France win the World Cup in 2018.
What's his net worth?
According to wealthygorilla, Paul Pogba's net worth is $85 million.
Who's his girlfriend?
Paul's partner is Bolivian model Maria Salaues. They like their relationship to be kept out of the public eye, but she was first seen cheering him on during the 2018 World Cup. It's recently been revealed that the couple had their first child, a son, in early 2019.
In the 2018/19 season, Paul Pogba found himself caught up in an altercation with angry fans following Man Utd's defeat by Cardiff City. In a clip a man could be heard shouting: "All this f***ing Instagram. You're s****, mate. Pack your bags and f*** off."
In a second clip, a fan shouted towards manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, demanding: "Ole. Ole. Get him out!" while pointing at the Frenchman. Pogba appeared to take the abuse on the chin, giving the man a disapproving look, before putting his hands together and walking off down the tunnel.
We'll be sure to add to his list of trophies as he continues his career.
