Floyd Mayweather appears to have accepted Conor McGregor's challenge to wear lighter gloves ahead of their multi-million pound fight in Las Vegas.

McGregor is used to wearing 4oz fingerless gloves in his UFC bouts and, during the promotional world tour ahead of the bout on 26 August, 'The Notorious' had complained that regulations meant that they would have to wear 10oz gloves, rather than 8oz gloves used in lower weight divisions.

And now it appears the 40-year-old boxer is willing to cede to McGregor's request and use the lighter gloves.

Taking to Instagram earlier today, Mayweather wrote: "Don't believe what you hear in the media. Don't believe what you hear on blog sites.

"If it's not coming directly from me, then it's not true. I'm telling McGregor, 'Let's fight in 8oz gloves'.

"McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I'll be wearing 8oz Grant gloves.

"Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I'm willing to accommodate.

"Let's give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see."

Later today McGregor responded saying he would 'destroy' his opponent no matter what gloves he wore.

He wrote: "Another handy 12 rounds today. We are prepared to destroy Floyd. Pick whatever size gloves you want as well little man.

"I fight with 4oz. I don't give a fuck about the size of the glove. I am coming sprinting at you with bricks. Know that. Brittle hands."

However, according to EPSN, the pair are already contracted to wear 10oz gloves and if they were to use 8oz instead, the fight could be in violation of Nevada State Athletic Commission regulations.

The regulations state that junior middleweight boxers must wear 10oz gloves.

"These regulations are in place for the health and safety of the athletes, which is of the utmost importance to the commission," Nevada commission executive director Bob Bennett told ESPN.

"Our regulations already outline the appropriate glove size according to contracted weight of a fight."

To be honest, all this shit seems to have been going on for too long now. I just want the two of them to quit the show-boating and get in the ring.
