Middleweight fighters Michael McDaniel and James Vake recently went head-to-head at the Xtreme Fighting Championship in Queensland, Australia.

But it took only two-and-a-half minutes before it all came to a close. McDaniel seemed to have the upper hand for large portions of the first round after reversing one of Vake's submission holds into a lock of his own.

However, when the pair got to their feet, McDaniel's eyes suddenly glazed over and his body went limp. He fell towards the floor and hit his head on the cage, surprising everybody in attendance.

Following the incident, XFC released a statement, saying: ""An unfortunate scene followed, which doctors have diagnosed due to a lack of oxygen to the brain during McDaniel's submission escapes.

"XFC is pleased to say that [McDaniel] is fit and healthy, and in the process of getting his medical clearance."

Although the announcer originally declared the fight a no-contest following McDaniel's fall, the XFC board ruled that Vake had earned a TKO victory since he was partly responsible for McDaniel losing so much blood to his brain.

The incident happened on 19th November, however, the clip has resurfaced on social media.

Since doing the rounds on social, the video has so far received more than a quarter of a million hits.
